A Champion for All Gaited Horses

Welcome to Friends of Sound Horses

Whether you are seeking information on gaited horses, enjoying your horse or interested in competing, Friends of Sound Horses (FOSH) offers it all when your passion is for the gaited horse.

FOSH is a membership organization that welcomes participation by owners of all gaited horses to join and support the gaited horse in all equine pleasures and disciplines. With a robust set of resources for the gaited horse enthusiast whose needs are often not addressed in mainstream media or clubs, going for a FOSH membership provides many rewards.

FOSH is a national leader in promoting, supporting and protecting gaited horses.  FOSH is known for its work to end soring of Tennessee Walking Horses through its public database of violators, and 60 years’ archive of soring articles.

So, if you enjoy the smooth ride of a gaited horse, then go FOSH because you got Gait!

American Horse Council Action Alert

House "Sign-On" Letter to USDA
Supporting Horse Protection

As you might recall, in early 2017, the outgoing Obama Administration issued a final USDA rule on the Horse Protection Act (HPA) to end the practice of “soring” of a horse’s limb. This rule mirrors the industry-endorsed “Prevent All Soring Tactics” (PAST) Act by taking common sense measures to protect certain Tennessee Walking Horses and Racking Horses from the practice. Unfortunately, the Trump Administration suspended the HPA rule four years ago and never reinstated it.

The horse industry and its allies in Congress are currently lobbying the new Administration to bring the HPA rule back, by circulating a “Dear Colleague” sign-on letter, and petition to USDA. Contact your House lawmaker today and urge him or her to sign the congressional letter and petition below and reinstate the Horse Protection Rule of 2017!
